“Come rest awhile, and be blessed by the beauty of nature and the peace of God.” In 1912, C. Austin Miles was asked to write a hymn poem that would "breathe tenderness and bring hope and rest for the weary." He penned words that became one of the favorite gospel hymns of all times. "I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses . . . " The Meditation Garden, located between the main hospital building and Professional Building 1, is available for any who wish to "come to the garden." This garden was dedicated in 1998. Volunteers from the medical center's Volunteer Auxiliary provided funds for flowers, fountain, trees, tables and other furnishings. Generous donors contributed plants and shrubs and members of the Garden Club volunteer for caretaking. Please feel free to "Come, rest awhile, and be blessed by the beauty of nature and the peace of God."
