Description
Location and Service Area: Located in Portland,
Oregon and serving the 900,000 east side residents of the metropolitan area.
Bed Count: Licensed for 302 beds.
Services Offered: A full-service medical center
with major emphases in surgery, cardiology, neurosurgery, mental health,
obstetrics, orthopedics, outpatient rehabilitation, primary care, home care and
hospice.
Graduate Medical Education Residencies: None.
However, we do have training programs in a number of areas including: nursing,
medical imaging, respiratory therapy, physical therapy and clinical psychology.
Number of Affiliated Physicians, Employees and
Volunteers: 507 physicians; 2,019 employees; and 433 volunteers.

Recent Accomplishments
- Opened new Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center
- Installed an additional Cardiac Catheterization Lab
- Expanded interventional cardiology service to include
elective procedures
- Among the first hospitals in Oregon to offer Abdominal
Aortic Aneurysm screening
- Implemented PACS (Picture Archival Communication System) for
digital storage and viewing of medical imaging files
- First hospital in Oregon to offer remote viewing of cardiac
catheterization images through PACS (Picture Archival
Communication System)
- Upgraded Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to provide enhanced quality, diagnostic capabilities and
increase efficiencies
- Operating a new outpatient center at Gresham Station that
includes a full-service digital imaging center as well as
relocated and expanded primary care and physical therapy
clinics
- Increased marketing and marketplace changes resulting in a
25% increase in Home Health patient volume and 17% patient
growth in Hospice
- Recruited 14 new physicians including medical directors in
Occupational Health and Hyperbaric Medicine
- Obtained city approval for campus conditional use master
plan for future expansion and development over the next
decade
- Broke ground on a new 181,000 square foot Pavilion to be
completed in 2008
- Recipient of Premier Award for Quality in Acute Myocardial
Infarction
- Awarded the OMPRO
(Oregon Medical Professional Review Organization) honor for excellence and a
second honor for innovation in surgical procedures - the only hospital in Oregon
to receive awards in 2005
- Only hospital in Portland to offer digital mammography with
the FDA approved "Soft Mammo Pad" for
all mammography patients
Annual Community Benefit Activities
- Facilitated more than 3,400 physician referrals
- Nearly 600 individuals participated in childbirth education
classes
- Wellness Services assisted more than 15,000 individuals
through classes, screenings, clinics and events
- The Healthvan provided
screenings for local residents and community outreach and wellness activities
providing more than $53,000 in uncompensated care
- Chaplains began community education classes focused on the
healing ministry of Christ at Camas Outpatient Clinic
- 10th Annual Golf Benefit generated a record breaking
$112,000 in proceeds to support construction of a Behavioral
Medicine Therapy Courtyard
- Record breaking employee annual giving campaign raised more
than $300,000 to benefit hospital and community based
programs
- Community philanthropic gifts and pledges generated
$1,428,000
- Partnered with area churches in providing lifestyle
improvement programs
- Employees volunteered at Portland Adventist and Battle
Ground Community Service Centers
- Provided free mammograms for low-income women as part of a
sponsorship for the Susan G. Komen Foundation's annual "Race
for the Cure"
- Served as a major sponsor of the NAMI Walk, which supports programs that benefit individuals with
mental illness
- Hospital leadership served on numerous community boards
